MORE THAN 7,400 GEORGE WASHINGTON STUDENTS TO MOVE-IN, AUG. 29

GW President Steven Knapp to Welcome Class of 2013 at Freshman Convocation, Aug. 30


EVENT: Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009; 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
More than 7,400 George Washington freshmen and returning students will move into their residence halls located across the Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon campuses. GW President Steven Knapp and his wife, Diane Robinson Knapp, will join nearly 1,000 student volunteers, staff, and Foggy Bottom neighbors to help students move-in.

9 a.m. - Thurston Hall, 1900 F St., NW
9:50 a.m. - Potomac House, 2021 F St., NW
10:45 a.m. - South Hall, 2135 F St., NW
11:45 a.m. - Mount Vernon Campus, Somers Hall, 2100 Foxhall Rd., NW

Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009; 4 p.m.
The academic year officially starts with Freshman Convocation, a time-honored University tradition. Freshmen arrive with their housemates wearing matching T-shirts and buttons representing their school. Dr. Knapp, Associate Vice President and Dean of Freshmen Fred Siegel and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Donald Lehman will speak. Christopher Diaz, B.A. '09, a Presidential Administrative Fellow who received the 2009 Manatt-Trachtenberg Prize, will reflect on his freshman experience.
