FORMER VICE PRESIDENT WALTER MONDALE TO VISIT THE GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY

The 2009 Public Affairs Project Conversation Series Kicks Off With "Walter Mondale: A Life in Politics"

EVENT: 

The George Washington University's School of Media and Public Affairs, part of the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, welcomes former Vice President of the United States Walter Mondale in the first installment of the 2009-2010 Public Affairs Project Conversation Series. Frank Sesno, director of the school, will host the event. The two will discuss Mr. Mondale's life in politics, the barriers he faced and broke, his victories and losses and the direction of the Obama-Biden White House. The evening will include a special Washington premiere screening of the new documentary Fritz: The Walter Mondale Story.

BACKGROUND: 

Fritz: The Walter Mondale Story is a new documentary by director Melody Gilbert. Fritz tells the story of the life and legacy of former Vice President Walter "Fritz" Mondale and his efforts to inspire a new generation to consider a life of public service.

The Public Affairs Project Conversation Series seeks out influential personalities in government, mass media and the business world for intimate conversations with Frank Sesno. Past guests have included George Stephanopoulos, Ted Turner, Gwen Ifill and five former secretaries of state.

Students at The George Washington University's School of Media and Public Affairs study journalism and political communications. Through theory and practice, they investigate the intersection of communication and power.
