GW HOSTS "A LOOK AT TWO PRESIDENTS: LINCOLN AND OBAMA"

EVENT:
The George Washington University's Luther W. Brady Art Gallery and the Millennium Arts Salon present "A Look at Two Presidents: Lincoln and Obama." Mel Hardy, chairman of the Millennium Arts Salon, will moderate a discussion between Dr. Ronald Walters, director of the African American Leadership Center at University of Maryland, and Newsday Editor Les Payne on the legacy of Lincoln and the ascendancy of Obama.

BACKGROUND:
Dr. Walters is referred to as dean of the political analysts of the civil rights movement. Payne is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, an authority on the life and impact of Malcolm X, and founding member of the National Association of Black Journalists. This event is presented in cooperation with Cultural Tourism D.C.'s celebration of the Lincoln Bicentennial.
The Luther W. Brady Art Gallery is the professional showcase for art at GW. Luther W. Brady (B.A. '46, M.D. '48), the gallery's namesake and benefactor, is a world-renowned oncologist who earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees at GW. He also received the honorary degree of Doctor of Fine Arts from GW in May 2004 and has served as a member of the University's Board of Trustees.
