BABY WITH THE BATHWATER - DARK COMEDY REVEALS PARENTAL HARDSHIPS AND CHILDREN'S FEARS
APRIL 1 - 5, 2009

EVENT:

The George Washington University's Department of Theatre and Dance presents Baby with the Bathwater by Christopher Durang as part of the 2008 - 2009 MainStage Season. Jodi Kanter, GW associate professor of theatre, is director.

BACKGROUND:

Jodi Kanter is a theatre artist, scholar, and educator. She is the author of Performing Loss: Rebuilding Community Through Theatre and Writing. She has scripted, directed, and performed in venues ranging from international theatre festivals and university theatres to hospitals and prisons. Kanter holds a doctorate degree in performance studies from Northwestern University.

Christopher Durang's plays include The Marriage of Bette and Boo, Sister Mary Ignatius Explains it All for You, The Actor's Nightmare, and Beyond Therapy. His work has been seen on and off-Broadway, nationally, and internationally. He holds a bachelor's degree in English from Harvard College and a master of fine arts degree in playwriting from Yale School of Drama. Since 1994, he and Marsha Norman have co-chaired the playwriting program at the Juilliard School in Manhattan. He also is a member of the Dramatists Guild Council.
