National figures will share their views on the important role of humanities in a civil society at the National Humanities Alliance Conference to be held at The George Washington University. GW President Steven Knapp will deliver the keynote address, "The Humanities: Making the Case in a Time of Crisis."

BACKGROUND:
The National Humanities Alliance Conference is a unique meeting ground for individuals interested in humanities policy and advocacy. Participants include higher education leaders, college and university faculty, teachers, students, museum professionals, librarians, archivists, curators, and independent scholars. Attendees meet with national leaders and others in Washington, D.C., who shape humanities policy and learn about the current state of federal funding and latest policy issues.
Founded in 1981, the National Humanities Alliance is a coalition of nearly 100 organizations and institutions dedicated to the advancement of humanities education, research, preservation, and public programs.
