BACKGROUND:
Paintings and Relief Prints, selected works by Karen Carruth, address issues of transparency and color. Her unique paintings on mylar are hung so that they transept the gallery space. Visitors are able to walk around the paintings that break up the space as free-floating panels, along with being able to view both around and through the paintings.
Above and Below the Surface: Serigraphic Monoprints on Clay, selected works by Jacqueline Kierans, evokes nature through patterns applied to clay of tree branches, crows and other decorative patterns. Her composite pieces explore texture and form in an unusual mixed-media approach to relief sculptures. Kierans, originally from Scotland, has consistently won awards for her work in student exhibitions.
Unboxing Package Design, selected works by James B. Hicks III, demonstrates the way three-dimensional designs on paper can be cut and folded to become clever and effective packaging designs for all kinds of products.
