WASHINGTON-Pradeep A. "Pradeep Rau has an established reputation in the marketing community as a respected administrator.  And his international expertise-in both academia and the private sector-omplements the School of Business' emphasis on international business, ethics and sustainability," said Dean Susan M. Phillips.  "Dr. Rau embraces our school's vision and its standards of excellence.  We are pleased that he has taken on this new responsibility."

Dr. Rau's current research focuses on international marketing strategy and retail analytics.

He has held academic positions at the Institute for International Business Education in Russia, the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi, the Institut Tadbiran Awam Negara in Malaysia, the University of International Business in China, the Indian Institutes of Management in Ahmedabad and Bangalore, the University of Aarhus in Denmark, Kent State University and the University of Delaware.  His private sector experience includes corporate development work with Larsen and Toubro in India, as well as assignments with Esso Eastern (an overseas subsidiary of Exxon) and Mahindra and Mahindra.

Dr. Rau earned his Doctor of Business Administration from Kent State University, Master of Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta and Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.  From 2008-2009, he was honored as the first fellow named to the Infosys Leadership Institute, the corporate university of Infosys Technologies.

"GW's School of Business is setting itself apart as a forward-looking business school, especially when it comes to our international business programs and the ethics components of our classes," said Dr. Rau. "It is telling that 40 percent of our undergraduates and 100 percent of our Global MBA candidates take part in study abroad opportunities or foreign residencies."

"We offer a dynamic learning environment, in no small part because we take full advantage of our location in Washington, D.C.,-where think tanks, international development agencies, government leaders and other resources are available to our students," Dr. Rau added.

Dr. Rau is a member of the Academy of International Business, the American Marketing Association and the Southern Marketing Association.  He is a member of the academic advisory board for SDM Institute of Management Studies in India and on the advisory board of the Center for Latin American Issues at GW's School of Business.

Dr. Rau has coauthored three books, including India Business Finding Opportunities in this Big Emerging Market (Paramount Books) and Marketing Strategies for the New Europe: A North American Perspective on 1992 (NTC Business Books/Dow Jones-Irwin).  His refereed articles appear in many journals including Competitiveness Review, Advances in Competitiveness Research, Thunderbird International Business Review, Journal of International Marketing, International Journal of Advertising, Journal of Advertising Research, International Marketing Review and the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. His work has been spotlighted at more than three dozen conferences and symposiums in the United States and overseas.

GW's School of Business prepares students for professional management careers. The depth and variety of its academic and professional programs, including five specialized master's programs, provide rich opportunities for students in the school's core Bachelor of Business Administration, Master of Business Administration and doctoral programs.
