BACKGROUND:

Roel C. Campos was nominated to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) by President George W. Bush on July 16, 2002 and confirmed by the Senate on July 25, 2002. He was sworn in as a commissioner on August 22, 2002. Campos began his career with the government, serving as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. For the next 15 years, he worked in Los Angeles for major law firms as a corporate transactions/securities lawyer and litigator. Campos served in the government for a second time beginning in 1985 as a federal prosecutor for several years in the U.S. Attorney?s Office in Los Angeles.

The Corporate Law Society is open to all law students interested in how the law relates to corporate entities and business transactions, both domestic and international. The society publishes The Business Law Journal and participates with the GW Law School in sponsoring guest lecturers and speakers on topics in the field of corporate law.

Established in 1865, The George Washington University Law School is the oldest law school in the District of Columbia. Accredited by the American Bar Association and a charter member of the Association of American Law Schools, the Law School enrolls approximately 1,750 students each year.
