Elliott's School's Dr. Jerrold Post, professor of political
psychiatry, was profiled by WJLA-TV (Channel 7) on his knowledge of Osama bin
Laden.
·
William Becker, professor of history, was interviewed by
International Herald Tribune Television about the historical impact to and
response from businesses after major tragedies, recessions, and wars.
·
Elliott School’s Leon Fuerth, J.B. and Maurice C. Shapiro
Professor of International Affairs, participated in a 40-minute panel discussion
at the Swedish Embassy. The discussion on security issues was broadcast on
Swedish TV. Fuerth was interviewed about the terrorist attacks by the Associated
Press, The New York Times, CNN, NPR, and Feature Story News, which was
broadcast on Channel News Asia and the South African Broadcasting
channel.

SBPM Dean Susan Phillips was interviewed by Reuters about
the October 2 Federal Open Market Committee meeting.
·
Doug Frechtling, associate professor of tourism studies,
was quoted in The New York Times about the impact the September 11 attack
is having on tourism globally. Frechtling was speaking at a World Tourism
Organization conference in Seoul, South Korea.
·
Dr. Gary Simon, Division of Infectious Diseases, was
interviewed by Fox 5 News about Anthrax.
·
Keith Holtermann, assistant dean for health sciences,
appeared on the "CBS Evening News" speaking about bio-terrorism and
preparedness. Holtermann was also
interviewed by the Ft. Lauderdale Sentinel Sun Newspaper, WHUR Radio, and
Judicial Watch on the same topic.
·
Craig DeAtley, associate professor for emergency medicine,
was interviewed by WRC-TV (Channel 4) about hospital preparedness for bio and
chemical attacks. The interview followed a meeting with city officials and the
District of Columbia Hospital Association.
·
Dr. John Harrald, was interviewed live on BBC for their
world news show. Harrald also
conducted two radio interviews for BBC radio following the TV show. The topic
was terrorism and preparedness.
·
Peter Hotez, chairman of the department of Microbiology and
Tropical Medicine was quoted in The Washington Post on bio-terrorism and
the value of vaccinations.
·
Dr. Christina Puchalski, director of the GW Institute on
Spirituality and Health, was interviewed by Voice of America/Worldnet Television
on how Spirituality and Health helps in coping with tragedy (terrorist
related). She discussed physical,
psychological and spiritual responses to stress as well as coping strategies in
these areas.

Dr. Gary Simon, division of infectious diseases, was
interviewed by Fox 5 News about Anthrax and its
communicability.
·
Dr. Samuel Potolicchio, professor of neuorology, appeared
on Fox 5's "High Tech Healthcare" about GW's Sleep Center and its treatment of
sleep disorders.
·
Elliott School's Cynthia McClintok, professor of political
science and international affairs, was quoted in The Times-Picayune of New
Orleans on possible past victories over terrorism.
·
Elliott School's James Hershberg, associate professor of
history and international affairs at the Institute of European, Russian and
Eurasian Studies (IERES), was interviewed by the Australian Broadcasting Company
about his article “The President’s Secret Weapon."
·
Ambassador Karl Inderfurth, Raymond and Juliet Bland
Professorial Lecturer of International Affairs at GW's Elliott School, was a
featured guest on NPR’s “The Diane Rehm Show” discussing terrorism.
·
WJLA-TV (Channel 7), WUSA-TV (Channel 9), and WTTG-TV (Channel 5)
covered GW's Elliott's School's Terrorism Town Hall Meeting, which
included 5 members from the School's faculty.
