The following GW experts commented on the recent terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C.:

 

  • Elliott School's Jerold Post, professor of psychology and political psychiatry, conducted more than 90 interviews including The New York Times, The Washington Post, "Time Magazine," USA Today, The Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe, "Washingtonian Magazine," The Philadelphia Inquirer, CNN, the local and national affiliates for ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox.  He was also interviewed by NPR, CBS Radio, Voice of America and Canadian National Television.

 

  • Darryl Jenkins, director of GW's Aviation Institute, was interviewed by more than 60 media outlets including CNN, "The News Hour with Jim Leher," Canadian Broadcasting, WUSA-TV (Channel 9), Newschannel 8, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, NPR, Detroit News, Associated Press, The New York Times, Voice of America, The Chicago Tribune, The Los Angeles Times, Newsday, "Nightly Business Report," Bloomberg News and many others.

  • Vahid Montevalli, Director of GW's Aviation Safety and Security Management Certificate Program, was quoted by "U.S. News and World Reports" and on ABC News.com.

 

  • Elliott School's Leon Feurth, Shapiro Professor, had an op-ed published in The Washington Post.

 

  • SBPM Dean Susan Phillips was interviewed on CNBC's "Squawk Box" discussing how the terrorist attacks may affect financial institutions and the U.S. economy.

 

  • Jonathan Turley, professor of law, had an op-ed published in The Los Angeles Times. 

 

  • Peter Raven-Hansen, professor of law, was interviewed by Feature News Story discussing the recent terrorist attacks in America. This interview also aired on South Africa TV, Channel News Asia, Voice of America, and Radio New Zealand.  Raven-Hansen was also quoted by University News Wire, The Saint Louis Dispatch, Rocky Mountain News, and WUSA-TV (Channel 9) news.

 

  • Jennifer Lyman, professor of law, was mentioned in "Slate Magazine's" article discussing material witnesses and suspects in the terrorist attacks.
  • The acts of terrorism in New York and Washington were the subject of this week's "GW Washington Forum." In-studio to discuss the topic of national security were Law School Professor Peter Raven-Hansen, Intelligence Office in Residence George Fidas and Elliott School Professor Leon Furth. Jeffery Ackman, chair of the department of Psychiatry was also on the show discussing posttraumatic stress syndrome.

  • GW President Stephen Trachtenberg was interviewed by WUSA-TV (Channel 9), WRC-TV (Channel 4), Associate Press Television and print, The Washington Post and CNN about GW's decision to close the University during the IMF/World Bank meetings.  Vice President Bob Chernak was interviewed by WJLA-TV (Channel 7), WTTG-TV (Channel 5), and NewsChannel 8 on the same topic.  These media outlets also covered a protest by GW students on the campus closing.

 

  • Dan McLean, CEO of GWUH, was quoted in The Washington Business Journal about GW's new hospital.  Several photos of GW's new hospital and Dan McLean, CEO, were included with article.

 

  • Charles Carver, an employment law professor, was quoted in The Washington Post about a District of Columbia hiring policy that requires female public safety officer applicants to take a pregnancy test.

 

  • John Banzhaf, professor of law, appeared on CNN's "Burden of Proof" discussing prisoner rights and procreation.

 

  • Charles Craver, professor of law, was quoted in The Washington Post in an article on police conducting pregnancy tests.

 

  • Peter Swire, professor of law, was quoted in The New York Times and "Computerworld" discussing online privacy issues.  Swire discussed privacy rules for banks in Electronic Commerce News

 

  • Jeffrey Rosen, professor of law, discussed stoplight photo ticketing devices on NPR's "Marketplace."  The New Republic also published an article by Rosen on workplace privacy.

 

  • Kip Lornell, professor of Africana studies, was interviewed by "Source" magazine about women in Go Go music.  Lornell was also interviewed by "U.S. News and World Report" about his book "The Beat" and Chuck Brown.

 

  • NBC "Dateline" aired an encore presentation of "The Last Mile," a documentary on the death penalty with Law School Associate Dean Susan Karamanian.
  • Dr. John Pan, director for GW's Center of Innovative Medicine, was quoted in The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette about herbal supplements and their effects on sleep especially when traveling. 

 

  • Sherry Davis Molock, professor of psychology, was quoted in The Washington Post about African-American youth suicide. 

 

  • NPR covered GW's International Affairs Society's Fall Panel Series that focused on how to respond to terrorism.
