  • GW's Colonial Inauguration was mentioned in a New York Times column about a parent's experience with GW's freshmen orientation.

 

  • Jarol Manheim, interim director of the School of Media and Public Affairs, was interviewed by WJLA-TV (Channel 7) about Gary Condit's media strategy.

 

  • Lynn Goldberg, assistant professor of speech and hearing, appeared on WJLA-TV (Channel 7) after the Gary Condit interview discussing his performance. 

 

  • Daniel Ullman, professor of mathematics, was interviewed by WUSA-TV (Channel
    9) about the Powerball lottery frenzy and the statistics involved in playing.

 

  • Gretchen King, director of media relations, Mark Levine, assistant dean of students, and GW parents and students were interviewed by WRC-TV (Channel 4) while students were moving into City Hall, one of GW's new residence halls.

 

  • Law Professor David Brunori was quoted in USA Today discussing retailers' fears of ending state tax holidays.

 

  • SBPM Dean Susan Phillips appeared on CNBC's "Market Wrap" and PBS' "The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer" discussing the Fed's decision and what it means for the U.S. economy. 

  • GW's Dr. Ruth Etzel was interviewed on NPR's "The Diane Rehm Show" about controlling mold in homes and larger buildings.

 

  • Timothy McCafferey, associate professor of biochemistry and molecular biology, was interviewed by NBC News on stem cell research.

 

  • The National Security Archive, housed at GW, was mentioned in The New York Times and The Los Angeles Times about documents that were released on the 1994 Rwanda killings.  

 

  • Jerome Barron, professor of law, was quoted in "Brill's Content" regarding NBC's president withholding election night tapes from Congress.

 

  • David Rowley, chairman of the Department of Forensic Sciences, was quoted in The Washington Post about internships available with the Arlington Police Department.

 

  • Gene D. Cohen, director of the GW's Center on Aging, Health and Humanities, was mentioned in The Washington Post about his study on whether community cultural activities led by professional artists could affect the health of senior citizens.

 

  • Luis Antonio Baez, adjunct professor of Spanish, was mentioned in The Washington Post about receiving the Muscular Dystrophy Association's 2001 Personal Achievement Award for the District of Columbia. 

 

  • Associate Law Dean Roger Transgrud was quoted in The Austin American Statesman discussing Sulzer Medica Ltd. and recent lawsuits against faulty hip and knee replacements.

 

  • Melani McAlister, associate professor of American Studies, was interviewed by Hearst Television on what younger generations know about history and popular culture as opposed to older generations. 

 

  • In studio for this week's "GW Washington Forum" were Dean of Students Linda Donnels and Rodney Johnson, director of parent services. Donnels and Johnson discussed the process of "letting go" for parents sending their kids off to college.

 

  • GW was mentioned on WYFF-TV (Greenville, NC) in a story about finding the right campus for your child.
