As a complement to our regular clipping service, “GW In The News” is a weekly roundup provided by the Department of Media Relations to highlight recent media coverage. 

 

·             Walter Reich, Yitzhak Rabin Memorial Professor of International Affairs, Ethics and Human Behavior, appeared on WTTG-TV's (Channel 5) "Fox and Friends Morning Show" commenting on the Middle East and the possibilities for peace in the region. Reich was also quoted in The Christian Science Monitor on the same topic.

 

·             Richard Pierce, assistant dean of GW's law school, discussed historic problems found in Enron trading practices in Copley News Service.

 

·             Robert Cottrol, professor of law, discussed the 2nd Amendment on PBS' "NewsHour with Jim Lehrer."

 

·             Lawrence Mitchell, professor of law, was quoted in The Chicago Tribune in a feature story on employee faith in corporations.  Mitchell outlined the Arthur Andersen trial on Reuters Television, NPR's "Talk of the Nation, The Baltimore Sun, and The San Francisco Chronicle and was quoted in The Buffalo News about Adelphia Communications' off-the-books practices.  He was also interviewed by Bloomberg News about the Enron case.

 

·             Alfreda Robinson, professor of law, was quoted in The San Jose Mercury News about reparations.

 

·             Michael Cornfield, research director for GW's Democracy Online Project, was quoted Newsday (New York) and The Atlanta Journal and Constitution about security for online voting.

 

·             Gordon Adams, director of GW's Security Policy Studies Program, was quoted in The Christian Science Monitor about Donald Rumsfeld's personal vision of the U.S. military.

·              

 

·             Sean Murphy, professor of law, was quoted in The Baltimore Sun and The Star Ledger about the U.N.'s decision to disband a fact-finding team for a probe into Israel's military assault in Jenin.  Murphy and Ralph Steinhardt, professor of law, discussed the United States' withdrawl from the International Criminal Court on BBC World News Radio.

 

·             Steven Schooner, professor of law, had an op-ed published by Government Executive Magazine discussing recent suspensions by the General Services Administration. Professor Steven Schooner was quoted in Government Executive Magazine regarding the latest report from the Project on Government Oversight on unethical conduct of contractors. 

 

·             SBPM Dean Susan Phillips was interviewed on CNNfn discussing Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan and other members of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) and their decision about whether to raise rates.
