1. The issue of professors submitting grades on time – questions were raised as to whether there is a specific policy on the timing of grades submission. Tim mentioned that he would look into this.
2. Personal academic problems – go see Devin Watson
3. Academic inquiries or concerns – address to curriculum reps (Ahmed and Ryan)
4. There will be an MCSC survey out shortly that class members are encouraged to complete.

1. Pathology notes printing – the lecture slides were originally not provided for us. Tim has worked this out. Help may be needed for distribution.
2. Possible AV person? Tim mentioned that Tyrus would be interested and had good ideas for recording lectures.
3. Curriculum concerns – there is current discussion about getting the POM exam moved from the week of finals, to lighten the load. More details on this to come.
4. On 9/8/07 a fundraising party was held at Eyebar. Thank you to those who went, because $935 was raised for the class charity, the student clinic.
5. POM info – the representatives have worked on making revised blue books. They are ready.
6. SHARE fund – Ben will contact those who showed interest in it from last year and he will schedule a meeting soon.
7. The class meeting will be on Wednesday, 9/12/07 at 12:00 in rm. 201
8. Pia C. will work with Audra to improve the class website so that it is easier to contact a student council member. If anyone has problems or concerns with their email address being online, they should contact Pia C.
9. Honor council – It was mentioned that since the members of the student council represent the class, it is our personal duty to maintain the honor code at all times.
10. Tim mentioned that if anyone is having academic problems or difficulties, he or she should see Devin as soon as possible.

1. Town Hall Meeting
a. Open forum for students to express concerns/ opinions about Medical School so far.
b. Monday April 9th at noon

2. Elections
a. MCSC Elections after Physio Exam
b. Class Council elections to be held during PBL on April 3rd and 5th.
c. Election speeches will be held on Monday, April 2nd.

3. Charity Auction
a. Monday April 2
b. Ross Hall 101, 4:30pm
c. Funds raised benefit the GW Student Run Clinic

4. Treasurer’s Report
a. About 156 people have paid class dues so far
b. Approximately $3725 raised for graduation activities, $1490 for class activities

Class of 2010- Class Council Meeting

1. Biochemistry Handouts will be available starting next week

2. Class Dues
a. Next collection date: Wed. Feb 28th @ noon in Ross Hall Lobby
b. Possible penalty if not paid

3. Social Event
a. Ideas for an upcoming event not centered around drinking or a formal event:
i. Sporting event (ie. Nationals or Capitals game)
ii. Bowling/wings
iii. Picnic at a local park

4. Class Charity
a. The class voted to support the GW Student Run clinic

5. Charity Auction
a. Monday, April 2nd following afternoon classes

c. Items donated from community, deans and faculty
i. Past auction items included a skiing trip with Dean Scott and a dinner at a local restaurant with one of the deans

b. “Doctors” shirt selling for $15
c. 2 for $20 if you buy one of each

Class of 2010- Class Council Meeting

1. Board Review/Practice Tests
a. Application due at the end of next week
b. Class must vote in favor of program in order to submit application
c. How to pitch this to the class?
i. Tim will discuss further details with Dean Goldberg and approach the class again later in the week
ii. Remind the class that GW has not performed very well in the past

2. Emergency Fund
a. Endowment fund created to aid those students who have a family emergency and cannot afford to fly home.
i. Fundraising efforts by the class of 2010 during the spring semester will go toward the fund
b. Should the fund be for the class of 2010 or the whole medical school?
i. The council agrees funds should be available for all medical students.
c. How to set limitations on fund allocations?
i. Set guidelines
ii. Appoint an individual or committee to designate who gets funds and how much
d. How to make sure fund is maintained after we graduate?
i. Set up account with a good interest rate- what type of account and through which individual or organization
ii. Alumni donations

3. Charity for class of 2010
a. Discuss options for what charity we would like to support through class fundraisers
i. get suggestions from classmates

4. Charity Auction
a. Scheduled Date: March 7, 2007 (changed to April 2)
b. Event has traditionally been held in Ross 101
c. Possibility of holding it at an off-campus location after classes one evening
i. Council members will look into pricing options
d. Should money raised go to an outside charity or the Emergency Fund?
i. In order to get support from the class of 2009, money would have to go to an outside charity

6. Formal Event for Class of 2010
a. Members of the class interested in a formal event for our class only
b. Possible date: February 17t, 2007
c. Funding through ticket sales and portion of class fund (amt. TBD)
i. We currently have ~ $970 in the account which is not transferable to next year

7. Class Dues
a. Money collected would go toward graduation events
b. How much?
i. Council agrees on $35/year for each student.
ii. Approximately $25 would fund senior year events, other money would fund special events over the next 3 years

8. Awards for TA’s
a. Have class vote on their favorite TA in Histology and Gross Anatomy Labs
i. Present them with a small gift/ award for their dedication of time and academic support
b. Present Gross Anatomy Lab TA award at memorial service

9. Class Awards
a. Hold a “Back to School” event at the end of the summer
b. Recognize success both in and out of the classroom
c. Possible financial award
d. Present members of the class of 2010 with special awards
i. Serious and funny (but tasteful and appropriate) awards

10. Thalamus Club Gift
a. Thank-you gift for the 2nd year students who organized and ran Thalamus club.
b. Recognize their efforts with a small gift
i. Suggestions: gift cards

11. Focus Groups
a. Discuss possibility of setting up small focus groups to tackle problems identified by our class.
i. i.e. how to copy and paste images from Histology lab and other computer function related issues

12. T-shirt Sale
a. Jake sent out e-mail with 6 possible logos for class members to vote on.

13. Upcoming MSEC meeting
a. Contact Devon ASAP if you or anyone you know is having problems that could be brought up during this meeting
