Law alumni living in Beijing were treated to an evening at the elegant Xi He Ya Ju in the Chaoyang District with Professor Donald Clarke on July 25.

Panel Discussion on Education Reforms

The Latino Law Alumni Association teamed up with the Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia on July 10 to present the dynamic panel discussion “Education Reforms and the Latino/Hispanic Student.”

Bar Association Events

Law alumni often travel to annual bar association meetings, so it’s only fitting for GW Law to host receptions and allow our alums to network with friends from around the country! This summer, law alumni mingled at the National Bar Association Annual Meeting in Houston, at the American Bar Association Annual Meeting in New York, and at the Hispanic National Bar Association Annual Meeting in Hollywood, Calif.

Alumni Baseball Outing

Due to the popularity of the April baseball outing, the Law School scheduled a second sold-out event on Aug. 14. Law alumni cheered the Nationals from a private suite while dining on traditional baseball park fare.

Environmental Law Reception

The first reception for alumni working in the field of environmental law was held on Thursday, Nov. 20. Guests heard from new Associate Dean for Environmental Studies Lee Paddock, Associate Professor Jamie Grodsky, and Professor Emeritus Arnold Reitze, and learned about new developments in the Environmental Law Program at their alma mater.

Government Contracts Law Alumni

Law alumni who practice in the field of government contracts had two opportunities to meet and mingle this past fall. On Nov. 8, law alumni met for a dinner at Famous Luigi’s. Mackey’s was the setting for a casual happy hour on Dec. 11, where alumni joined current students for a “last day of class” celebration!

Third Biennial Judge Edward S. Northrop Lecture Series

The George Washington Law Alumni Association partnered with the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland to commemorate the late Judge Edward S. Northrop, LLB ’37. The featured keynote speaker in this third installment of the speaker series on Oct. 23 was Jeffrey Toobin, staff writer at The New Yorker and senior legal analyst for CNN.

Lecture by Professor Jonathan Turley

On Oct. 23, law alumni in New York enjoyed a lecture by Professor Jonathan Turley on “Unpacking the Court: The Expansion of the Supreme Court in the Twenty-First Century.”

Virginia Bar Swearing-In

The George Washington Law Alumni Association welcomed its newest members of the Virginia Bar with a pre-swearing-in brunch on Oct. 27. Professor Bob Tuttle, JD ’91, was on hand to congratulate the young law alumni.

Latino Law Alumni Happy Hour

On Thursday, Nov. 6, the Latino Law Alumni Association hosted a happy hour at La Tosca in downtown Washington, D.C.
