George Welcomes...

GW President Stephen Joel Trachtenberg and Law School Dean Frederick Lawrence greeted two prominent visitors, Chief Justice of The United States John Roberts and Broadway legend Carol Channing, on Feb. 9. Roberts, along with Second Circuit Court of Appeals Judges Guido Calabresi and Sonia Sotomayor, judged GW Law’s Van Vleck Moot Court Competition and attended a reception in the Marvin Center. Channing, shown here with her husband to her left, performed in Lisner Auditorium to celebrate President’s Night.

(above) Pulitzer Prize winner Judith Miller discussed the use of confidential sources and her relationship with former employer The New York Times at the National Press Club in November as part of GW’s The Kalb Report a public affairs series hosted by Marvin Kalb.

Len Elmore, ESPN analyst and member of the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics, was among several sports experts who spoke at the organization’s summit on the collegiate athlete experience hosted by GW in January.

On April 6th author and former Saturday Night Live regular Al Franken hosted his national talk radio program with the Air America Radio Network live before a packed crowd in the Jack Morton Auditorium. After the event, Franken signed copies of his books and posed for photographs.
