Topic: Vapor Intrusion Issues Beyond Radon - Exposure Considerations for Children and Families

Dr. Karl V. Markiewicz has been a Senior Toxicologist with the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry since 2000.  He currently works in both the Division of Health Assessment & Consultation (DOD and DOE sites) and Division of Regional Operations (CERCLA and RCRA sites) in Philadelphia, PA (Region 3).   Dr. Markiewicz provides expertise for the development of public health assessments/consultations and assists in the development of health studies and exposure investigations on hazardous waste sites.  As needed, he provides evaluation of imminent health threats associated with emergency releases of chemical and radioactive wastes and other chemical incidents.  Karl works closely with EPA, State Agencies (Health and Regulatory) and communities regarding exposure to chemicals in the environment.  He participated in the World Trade Center and Katrina Emergency Response activities.
