Roger A. Oxendale, a 1979 Clarion MBA graduate, was named on January 6 of this year by Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Board of Trustees to be the new president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the hospital. Prior to obtaining the Clarion MBA, Mr. Oxendale earned a Bachlor of Science in Business Administration degree from Clarion with a major in accoutancy.
Prior to being named president and CEO of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Roger A. Oxendale was executive vice president and chief operating officer (COO) of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Oxendale oversaw all aspects of day-to-day operations at the hospital, which U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks among the top pediatric hospitals in the United States. Oxendale joined Children’s in 1995 as chief financial officer and was promoted to COO in 2000.
Oxendale, 51, was a key member of the senior management team that facilitated a significant financial turnaround for Children’s during the late 1990s. He was the senior executive responsible for founding Children’s Community Pediatrics, the largest pediatric and adolescent primary care medical network in western Pennsylvania, with 91 pediatricians in 25 locations across six counties.
As a key negotiator for Children’s merger with UPMC, Oxendale facilitated the construction of an entirely new, environmentally friendly hospital, which is currently being built in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Oxendale previously was a senior financial executive with the Allegheny Health, Education and Research Foundation, and served as senior audit manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Pittsburgh.
Oxendale serves on the boards of a number of non-profit organizations that focus on young people. His board memberships include The Pittsburgh Project, Mission Meadows, Coalition for Christian Outreach, Covenant Bible College Foundation and the Lawrenceville Development Corporation. He is a past officer of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation. Oxendale makes his home in Pittsburgh with his wife, Diane, and their three daughters.
