The Four Pillars of Kappa Sigma
Over the past 140 years, Kappa Sigma has grown from a group of Friends and Brothers in 46 East Lawn into an international organization with over 180,000 living members. Through it all, we have stood on the principles of Fellowship, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service. We call these principles the Four Pillars of Kappa Sigma.
Fellowship
Kappa Sigma is, above all else, a Fraternity, and the ideal of Fellowship unites us all. From the chapter to the international organization we are bound together by common ideals and by a common Ritual. This works together to make men from across the world Brothers in Kappa Sigma.
Leadership
Kappa Sigma aims to build leaders, both within the Fraternity and in the world. To this end we encourage personal responsibility, beginning with the pledge process and continuing through graduation and life.
Scholarship
Kappa Sigma is primarily a collegiate organization, and thus our primary goal is to encourage outstanding academic performance in our pledges and our Brothers. The Fraternity acts a support system and provides resources for all members to enhance their academic standing, particularly by pairing older and younger brothers and aid and mentor one another in their studies.
Service
Kappa Sigma strives to promote excellence in all fields, and particularly in community involvement, both on campus and on the global stage. We encourage involvement in student volunteer activities and sponsor philanthropy events. In doing so we recognize that a better society will help make better Brothers.
