Learning Working Group
Charge: Enhance the academic environment with innovation, effectiveness and efficiency.
A) Increase Hybrid Courses – Use new technologies to increase faculty - student engagement
B) Increase Study Abroad Opportunities – Enable more students from business and engineering fields to study abroad
C) Expand GW Study Abroad Centers – Enhance the GW international reputation by opening up GW centers to students from other universities
D) Create a GW January Term – Create short, intense courses and experiences that may shorten the time to graduation
E) Create Signature Interdisciplinary Courses – Develop 4-6 credit courses across disciplines to enhance the academic experience
F) Create 4-Credit Pathways to Complete a Major – Decrease the number of courses taken and allow students and faculty to work together in-depth on topics appropriate to the major
G) Develop Internships for Academic Credit – Increase and enrich internship opportunities by developing more local partnerships
H) Renovate 1st Floor of Gelman – Maximize the collaborative learning space and create more blended learning areas
Business Process Committee
Charge: Improve University processes through innovation, effectiveness and efficiency.
A) GW Temp Agency – Create an internal organization drawing on students & others interested in temporary part-time work
B) Energy Consortium – Explore the concept of entering into/creating an energy consortium to leverage size and reduce the cost of net energy consumed
C) Consolidated Processing of Graduate Admissions – Implement a consolidated model for certain administrative functions related to the processing of graduate admission applications
D) Leased Space Reduction – Reduce the amount of expensive off-campus spaced leased by the University
E) Telecommuting – Increase cost savings & employee satisfaction by initiating a telecommuting program for qualified positions
F) Unified Calendaring – Improve efficiency by adopting a University-wide calendaring system simplifying meeting & resource scheduling for staff & faculty
G) Strategic Sourcing – Take advantage of vendor breath of offerings through consolidated & strategic sourcing
