Corruption and Democracy
The IGIS project on Democracy and Corruption was initiated to explore the irony that while democratizing states are often admonished for their corrupt practices, much corruption also exits in the very developed democracies doing the admonishing. In this project, we aim to investigate the various forms of corruption and how they interact with a range of democratic styles. We begin with a panel featuring three of the major academic analysts of corruption: Mark Warren, Susan Rose-Ackerman, and Daniel Kaufmann. Moderated by Gina Lambright, Assistant Professor of Political Science and International Affairs, GW Elliott School of International Affairs.
