Affiliated Scholars | Research Assistants

Faculty members at IERES seek student research assistants to assist with their ongoing scholarly research. Priority is given to graduate students, particularly from the Elliott School, but undergraduates may also apply. Preferences go to students who are in:

  • European and Eurasian Studies program;
  • Other Elliott School M.A. programs;
  • Ph.D. programs in any discipline working on topics in European, Russian, or Eurasian studies;
  • Federal Work Study students;
  • Members of other affiliated programs;
  • Current holders of full-time fellowships from GWU or The Elliott School of International Affairs are not eligible;
  • Current holders of additional GW-funded job(s) may not work more than 40 hours per week between/among all GW-funded jobs. Hours recorded in excess of 40 hours will not be funded.

Compensation will be at the rate of $10.00 per hour. The number of weeks worked per semester and then the number of hours worked per week will vary. Pay is for hours worked only, as verified by the faculty sponsor.

The application to be a research assistant for the 2008-2009 academic year can be found on the IERES website under Research Assistants (http://www.ieres.org/). Once completed, it should be submitted along with a cover letter and current resume to ieresgwu@gwu.edu or by fax to 202-994-5436 by September 15th. Applicants will be notified by September 22nd.

Please note that we are simultaneously receiving research assistant requests from our faculty members. We will not know the required research areas until September 15th. We advise student applicants to highlight their own research interests, experiences and abilities.
