Events
Events at IERES include informal brown bag lunch talks, two-hour panel discussions, multi-day conferences, movie nights, and book talks. During the 2006-2007 academic year, the Institute hosted over 60 events at the Institute. These ranged from brown bag lectures by faculty, students, visiting scholars and invited experts on their research and/or contemporary developments concerning Europe and Eurasia, talks by US and foreign governmental officials (including the ambassadors from the EU, Greece, Norway, Moldova, and Cyprus and other embassy officials from Germany, Estonia and Finland) to panel discussions (such as on the conflict in Transnistria, the 2007 and 2008 Armenian elections, the 2007 French elections, the constitutional-political crisis in Ukraine, and the legacy of Russian president Boris Yeltsin) small workshops (on the 50 th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution and on EU energy security), or large conferences (such as a conference co-sponsored with the State Department on US-Chinese relations, 1969-1980, and our annual graduate student conference on the cold war co-sponsored with UC Santa Barbara and the London School of Economics).
