Sick Leave Accrual for Regular Full-Time Employees
Employees in regular full-time positions accrue paid sick leave at the rate of one day per month.
Sick leave may be carried over to subsequent fiscal years, up to a maximum accrual of 180 days.
Accrued sick leave is credited at the end of each month and may not be used prior to its accrual.
The accrual rate for sick leave does not change with years of service.

Sick Leave Accrual for Regular Part-Time Employees
Regular part-time employees accrue two hours of paid sick leave per month if the percentage of
effort (number of hours worked per week divided by 40) is less than 50 percent, and four hours of paid sick leave per month if the percentage
of effort is 50 percent or more. Accrued sick leave is credited at the end of each month and may not
be used prior to its accrual. The accrual rate for sick leave does not change with years of service.

Impact of Absence Without Approved Leave (AWOL) on Sick Leave
Employees do not accrue sick leave for a calendar month in which an absence without
approved leave (AWOL) occurs.

Pro-Rating Sick Leave
Accrual of sick leave for a month may be pro-rated for a number of reasons. For example, a new
employee who begins work after the first workday of the month will have his or her sick leave
accrual pro-rated for that month. Sick leave is also pro-rated for periods of unpaid absence,
such as leave taken under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), leave of absence, or
temporary disability. Please refer to the chart below for more information on pro-rating
