Sick Leave

All regular full-time and regular part-time employees accrue paid sick leave. Accrued sick leave is credited on the last working day of each month and may not be used prior to accrual. Paid sick leave is provided for absence from work due to illness and medical or dental treatment. Sick leave can be taken in one-hour increments.

Supervisors should be aware that income protection for absence beyond the period of accrued leave is provided for eligible employees through the University's long-term disability and salary continuation plans as described in Section 9.4.1 of the Employee Handbook.
