BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION

The Faculty/Employee Assistance Program (F/EAP) is a service for University employees offering confidential counseling, problem assessment, and referrals to other resources in the community. This program is available to all employees, and can help with a range of concerns. Examples include the following:

  • Marriage and Family Problems
  • Divorce
  • Problems with Children or Parents
  • Financial Concerns
  • Emotional Disturbances
  • Alcoholism and Drug Addiction
  • Grief Counseling
  • Gambling
  • Eating Disorders
  • Chronic Illnesses
  • On-the-Job Stress
  • Problems with Co-Workers

As an enhancement to this benefit program, effective December 1, 2008, GW contracted with a national provider of EAP services, CIGNA Behavioral Health.  Faculty, Staff and their dependents wanting to take advantage of this benefit should contact Cigna Behavioral Health directly by calling 1.877.622.4327 to speak with a Personal F/EAP Advocate who will provide the required authorization to obtain additional F/EAP assistance, if necessary. Employees may also go online to www.cignabehavioral.com and enter the employer ID: gwu, for additional helpful resources and information. .  The service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The F/EAP is a confidential service and each counselor is a licensed mental health professional.  The EAP counselor can provide professional counseling for any of the reasons mentioned above and will assist the employee and their dependents in devising a plan of action.  Issues may be resolved through consultation, support, or information, and referrals for longer term counseling or resolution will also be made, as appropriate
