Curricular Requirements for the History Minor or Secondary Field of Study (ESIA)*

1. One introductory course chosen from HIST 38, 39, 40, 71, and 72. Students may obtain credit in lieu of this course by scoring a minimum of 4 on the Advanced Placement Examination or 650 on the SAT American History Subject Test.

2. Five 100-level courses.

How to Declare a Minor or Secondary Field of Study in History

Students in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences should declare their minor no later than the beginning of their senior year. Fill out the Declaration of Major/Minor form, listing the courses you have taken and plan to take to fulfill the requirements for the Minor. Have your form signed by an undergraduate advisor (any full-time faculty member in the department) during his or her office hours. Bring the form to 335 Phillips Hall in order to add your email address to the History Minors Listserv and then return it to 107 Phillips Hall.

Students in the Elliott School of International Affairs should fill out a Secondary Field of Study Form, and have it signed by an undergraduate advisor (any full-time faculty member in the department) during his or her office hours. Bring the form to 335 Phillips Hall in order to add your email address to the History Minors Listserv and then return it to the ESIA Office of Academic Advising and Student Services.

* Students must earn a C- or higher for course credit to count towards these requirements.
