What to bring to your appointment?

Get 'em early!

To schedule an appointment with one of our tutors, please click here. If you are unable to schedule your appointment online for any reason please call 202-994-3765 and speak with one of our receptionists. If you do not get a confirmation e-mail, please call us as well.

We accept walk-ins however cannot guarantee you will get an appointment if you do not make one in advance. The center gets very busy (especially during midterms and finals) and students will be limited in the number of appointments they are allowed to sign up for.

Please plan accordingly and visit us throughout the writing process, rather than during the final editing phase.

What happens during a session:

When you arrive at the center, please check in with the receptionist, who will introduce you to your tutor. You and your tutor will talk about your assignment and figure out what you can accomplish during the session. Depending on where you are in the writing process, your time together could be spent in a variety of ways: you might work on brainstorming ideas, drafting a thesis statement, or revising a draft.

Your tutor will ask you to fill out an online data form that records your contact information and the work you tackled during the session. If you need a copy for your professor please let the receptionist know and they will give you a receipt.
