UPDATE: Spring 2009 World Bank/IMF Meetings

The World Bank/International Monetary Fund meetings for Spring 2009 will be held in Washington, DC, on the weekend of April 25 - 26, 2009.

The Spring Meetings of the World Bank and IMF will be held two weeks from now.  Minor sessions will begin as early as Wednesday the 22nd but the substantive meetings which impact GW will be that following weekend.

The below limits and restrictions are much relaxed from previous meetings but are subject to change.

The first impact will affect parking after rush hour on Friday the 24th of April.  The 2000 blocks of H and G Streets will be posted for no parking from about 7PM Friday through 6AM Monday the 27th of April.  Cars parked on these streets after that time will be towed.

The surface lot at 20th and H will again be used for delegate drop off on Saturday and Sunday.  This will require the relocation of Zipcars that use that lot.  MPD will notify the commercial parking lot under 2000 Pennsylvania Ave. that the lot will be inaccessible/closed from Friday night until Monday morning.

Trash pick-up east of 21st Street between G and Pennsylvania Ave. will not be possible between 7PM Friday and 6AM Monday.

University trash and recycling cans on the street east of 22nd Street will need to have their lids and liners removed by Friday close of business or they will be picked up and moved by DC Public Works.

Construction activity east of 22nd Street will need to secure and the sites “policed” for loose items that could be thrown by demonstrators by close of business Friday.

Parking access behind F Street House will be preserved and the MPD personnel on the corner of 20th and F Streets will be briefed to that effect.

The truck exclusion zone will be west of 17th Street, south of Eye Street, east of 21st Street, and north of E Street.  Consequently, the Vern Express will not be impacted for these meetings.  That said, deliveries inside that area need to be made before 7PM Friday or after 6AM Monday.  The Colonial Express will need to operate outside of that area only.

There will be no vehicles permitted north of Francis Scott Key Hall or south of Pennsylvania Ave. on 20th Street.  18th and 19th Streets will e similarly closed off.

H Street will be closed to vehicles from 18th to 21st with the exception of those who park under the MPA Building.  Those parkers will need to present GWorld cards to the MPD officers at the 21st Street checkpoint.

G Street will be closed to vehicles from east of 1776 to 21st Street.

Pedestrian access will be preserved to all university buildings and offices including the Burns Legal Clinic.

Pedestrians will not be permitted inside the area east of 20th Street, south of Pennsylvania Ave., west of 17th Street, and north of G Street.

The Fall World Bank-IMF Meetings will be overseas.  Therefore, these are the last restrictions for such meetings scheduled for 2009.
