Crime Alert

CRIME ALERT

Former George Washington University employee James Markley made a non-specific threat to harm members of the GW community during a recent phone call to a University administrative office on the Foggy Bottom campus. On 2/15/10, at an off campus location, the Metropolitan Police Department arrested and charged Markley with Felony Threats. GWPD learned on the evening of 2/17/10 that Markley was released from custody pending further judicial action, and a District of Columbia Superior Court Judge ordered Mr. Markley to stay away from the George Washington University.

Mr. Markley is not wanted by law enforcement personnel at this time but will be arrested if he enters the GW Campus area. Should you speak to or encounter Mr. Markley please use caution and immediately call the GW Police Emergency Line: 202-994-6111.

Additionally, students, faculty and staff may notice an additional GWPD presence on campus in areas where Mr. Markley has had contact with faculty or staff.
