Inaugural Kickoff at the Lincoln Memorial, Sunday, January 18, 2009

On Sunday afternoon, January 18, opening ceremonies for the presidential inauguration will take place at the Lincoln Memorial.  The venue opens at 8 a.m. and pre-event activities start at noon.  The event, including the concert, is open to the public.  Expect heavy foot traffic near the Foggy Bottom Campus and the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro Station.  Several road and bridges will be closed near the National Mall and in Foggy Bottom including 23rd Street between Washington Circle and Constitution Avenue; Virginia Avenue; and the Memorial and Roosevelt Bridges.
