The GW Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management (OPSEM) oversees emergency planning at GW. As set forth by the University's leadership in 2002, all elements of the University should either have plans or be covered by them. The “Got Plans?” initiative encourages contingency and continuity of operations planning by providing training and training materials to all University elements. Our support materials are validated and updated to provide the most accurate and useful information. PowerPoint presentations, narrative planning guides, and checklists provide departments with assistance in their planning efforts. The training materials coincide with one another and can be used effectively in any order. However, we recommend viewing the contingency plans materials before those for continuity and reading the materials in the following order: 1) PowerPoint presentation, 2) Guide, and 3) Checklist. The PowerPoint presentations explain the general concepts of contingency and continuity plan development. The guides provide a framework for contingency and continuity plans with appropriate headers and the information that should be contained in each section. Lastly, the checklists may be used to verify the inclusion of the key components of an effective plan.
