International students fill out the
same application as American students except International Students
have an extra section pertaining to financial certification.
International Students may also be required to take the TOEFL exam.
In the event that you do not have a bachelors degree we will review
your application if you have the equivalent of a bachelors degree.
A bachelors equivalent is considered to be four years of
post-secondary education, usually when students are between 18 and
22 years.
Financial Certification
Students who wish to study in the United States on a student visa
must show that they have sufficient funds available to cover expenses
for one full year before attempting to enter a college or university.
The entire cost of tution for the Master's Degree in 2005-2006 is
$33,264 for the 36-credit degree, which comes out to $924 per credit
hour. This figure does not include room and board and other
living expenses.
Test of English as a Foreign Language
(TOEFL)
TOEFL scores are required of all applicants who are citizens of
countries where English is not an official language and who do not
hold a degree from an accredited American college or university.
The recommended minimum TOEFL score for admission to any
graduate degree program is 550 on the paper-based test or 213 on
the computer-based test. Those applying for graduate teaching
assistantships must achieve at least a score of 600 on the paper-based
test or 250 on the computer-based test. TOEFL scores may not be
more than two years old.
Standardized tests should
be taken early enough to allow scores to reach the admissions office
before the application
deadline. The ETS reporting code for The Graduate School
of Political Management is 5246. To make arrangement to take

also complete the Financial Certificate stating how they intend
to pay for their education and other expenses while studying in
the USA. Please fill out this form the best you can, providing
bank statements, sponsor letters and anything else that can help
your case. Do NOT provide copies - GWU needs the originals.
