The Initiative in Civic Education (ICE) transfers critical political
management skills to developing democracies. It is a program grounded
in the curriculum of the GSPM and offers a comprehensive suite of
courses in
everything from media management to fundraising, women in leadership
to
lobbying, campaign management to grassroots politics. ICE is modeled
on the
very successful program already in place in Latin America under
the
sponsorship of the Corporacion Andina de Fomento. Underpinning our
efforts
throughout is the belief that our curriculum is most effective when
it is
"localized" to each political setting and taught by local
political
professionals. ICE will have developed program proposals for Pakistan
and
Eastern Europe, and expects to make additional bids throughout 2003.
