Jeffrey Weinberg

Associate Professorial Lecturer - Executive - Legislative Relations (PSC 224, 215)
Legislative Attorney, Office of Management and Budget

Jeffrey A. Weinberg (J.D. George Washington University) is a legislative attorney at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), where he began as a summer intern in the Nixon Administration.  He is responsible for clearance of the Administration’s: testimony before Congressional committees on legislation; draft legislation for presentation to the Congress; and positions on legislation being considered on the floor of the House and Senate.  He also prepares memoranda for the President on legislation awaiting his approval or veto.  Mr. Weinberg was honored with OMB’s highest award, the Distinguished Service Award:  "For outstanding contributions over six Presidential Administrations in managing the legislative clearance process on behalf of the OMB Director and the President."  At the beginning of 2002, he was detailed from OMB to the staff of the White House’s National Economic Council.  He has also served on detail to the staff of a Governor at the Federal Reserve Board.     

 

Beginning in 1999, he has been Associate Professorial Lecturer at George Washington University where he teaches "Executive Branch Decision Making" and “The American Presidency” in the Masters in Legislative Affairs program.  He is also an adjunct faculty member of American University and Catholic University where he teaches graduate courses in the Public Administration and Congressional and Presidential Studies programs, respectively.  He regularly serves as a discussant on panels on the presidency at annual meetings of the American Political Science Association and the American Politics Group in the United Kingdom.
