Robert Steck
Associate Professorial Lecturer - Speechwriting (PMGT 206)
Bob Steck has spent his career moving among several worlds: lecturing on philosophy, leadership and strategic communication at Colleges and Universities, (University of Connecticut, Colorado College, Washington & Lee); writing speeches for CEOs and developing communication strategy for Fortune 500 companies, (e.g. IBM, Dun & Bradstreet, Fannie Mae); developing and implementing strategies and writing speeches for political candidates, for Non-Government Organizations, and for carefully chosen foreign leaders.
He received his BA from the University of Texas, and won a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship which he took to Yale University Graduate School. He had finished all requirements for the PhD except for the dissertation, and was teaching at Washington & Lee University when he was drafted into the US Army. After returning from a tour of duty in Vietnam, and winning a Rockefeller fellowship which he took to Harvard University, Steck made the decision to spend his career moving between academic and non-academic assignments.
