Cheryl Jacobus

Associate Professorial Lecturer - Political Communications

With a career spanning more than 20 years reflecting in-depth political experiences, Cheri Jacobus has developed a record of delivering results. Her expertise is in message development, media strategy, press relations and communications services, as well as policy and legislative strategy, communications and public affairs consulting for companies and organizations dealing with Congress, the White House and federal agencies. She founded Capitol Strategies public affairs and communications firm in 1998, building a client base that includes political campaigns, defense contractors, business coalitions, political grassroots organizations, law firms, high tech firms, and conservative authors.

Cheri Jacobus has managed and advised several noteworthy congressional campaigns, and was a media spokesperson at the Republican National Committee. She appears on national television programs such as "Crossfire" "Hannity and Colmes", "The O'Reilly Factor", "Your World With Neil Cavuto" "Equal Time", FOX News, CNN, MSNBC, and CNBC, "The Montel Williams Show" and ABC's "Politically Incorrect With Bill Maher" offering political analysis, commentary and debate. She also has lectured at The Leadership Institute, American University, American Bar Association and Young American Broadcasters. The National Debate named her one of the 300 most influential people in politics and media in the United States.

While serving as Communications Director for the House Education and Workforce Committee after the Republican takeover of Congress in 1995, Ms. Jacobus helped shape policy by incorporating communications strategy into issue development, as well as directing press relations for the Committee's issues in the Congress and serving as press spokesperson.  She has also served as a key advisor to Congressman Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD), campaign manager and chief strategist to Wayne Gilchrest (R-MD) in his first bid for Congress, and aide to Bob Michel (R-IL) when he was House Republican Leader, and formulated and implemented the strategy for the boat luxury tax repeal.
