Brian P. Hawkinson
Brian P. Hawkinson is senior vice president of Democracy Data & Communications (DDC), an integrated public affairs strategy, technology and communications firm. He leads DDC's efforts to help clients build political involvement programs that enable them to engage stakeholders and achieve tangible results on legislative and regulatory priorities.
Hawkinson joined DDC in 2007 after spending 11 years as director of Management Consulting at the Washington, D.C. based Public Affairs Council. There, he led all consulting projects for senior public affairs managers, as well as conducted best practices benchmarking projects.
Prior to his time with the Public Affairs Council, Mr. Hawkinson was director of National Corporate Relations at the United Way of America, managing that organization's relationships with Fortune 500 companies. His professional experience also includes work in the financial services and oil and gas industries, as well as military service in the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division.
He has authored numerous articles for trade and professional publications around the world and is a frequent speaker on public affairs management issues.
A native Texan, Mr. Hawkinson holds a BBA degree from James Madison University and an MBA from the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech. He and his wife Deborah reside with their two children in Mount Vernon, Virginia.
