Graduate Studies

The Office of Graduate Student Enrollment Management works with the offices of graduate studies in each school and with other campus units to coordinate the graduate marketing and recruiting efforts as well as to improve the graduate admissions processes and outcomes.

The Office of Graduate Student Assistantships and Fellowships provides graduate students with information about many types of financial support, administers the graduate financial support packages, and trains graduate teaching assistants. Both offices work to enhance the experiences of graduate students in and out of the classroom.

Each year the Graduate Teaching Assistantship Program provides training and resources to new GTA’s to better prepare them for their teaching responsibilities. In addition to a required workshop for all new GTA’s, GTAP also includes an online component and follow-up support as needed. It is also through this program that the annual Philip Amsterdam Awards for Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistants are awarded.

Academic Success and Professional Development Series: Each semester this office, working with the GW Careers Office, presents a number of workshops and seminars to help graduate students make the most out of their academic experience here at GW, as well as to prepare them for their career beyond the classroom.

Electronic Theses and Dissertations (EDT): All graduate students who write a thesis or dissertation as part of their degree will be required to submit it through the EDT online system. We provide an information session each semester about this process, and a detailed explanation of the requirements and the process can be found at theGW ETDwebsite
