    Resource Conservation

    About the Campaign

GreenGW is working to increase student awareness of sustainable resource use. We seek to reduce GW's energy consumption, increase recycling rates, and make the switch to sustainable products.

How can YOU help reduce energy consumption?

    • Turn out the lights when you leave a room.
    • Set your computer to hibernate after 30 mins without use.
    • Turn the thermostat to a reasonable temperature or turn it off when you aren't home.
    • Use Compact Flourescent Bulbs (CFLs) instead of incandescents. These bulbs use significantly less energy, last longer, and don't heat up like the average light bulb.

    Dorm Captains Program

Each floor of every dorm will have a representative who will promote recycling and increase awareness. They will help ensure that recycling bins are used and respected. Dorm Captains are your residential resource for recycling information. If you'd like to become a Dorm Captain or would like to know who is the Captain in your building email our Director of Policy Alexander Winn at alexander.winn@gmail.com.

    Recyclables

Check out GW FixIt's list of what can and cannot be recycled on campus!

    Did you know?

"Americans throw away enough office paper each year to build a 12-foot high stack of paper from NY to Seattle."

The National Recycling Coalition's Conversionator gives this and other FLABBERGASTING statistics and comparisons about how much recyclables we use in America and what recycling them can save us. This will blow your mind. A MUST SEE!
