About Us
Who We Are
Green GW is a student organization on the George Washington University campus which aims to unite the student body, administration, and faculty alike to create a more environmentally friendly and green campus while simultaneously increasing awareness of environmental issues.
What We Do
Green GW works with the student body, student organizations, faculty, University administrators, the general public, and the federal government to promote environmental issues such as:
- Climate Change
- Recycling
- Alternative Energy
By informing the public, through policy changes and on campus events, we are making lasting change.

Executive Board
Responsible for oversight of the directores and the organization as a whole. Provides direction and keeps the organization on target.
Spear-heads the advocacy of policy changes on campus by working with GW administration and Facilities Management. Areas for campus improvement include energy conservation in buildlings, specifically Phillips, creating an e-waste policy for broken electronics on campus.
- Sub-committees may arise as needed and could include:
- Recycling and Waste Management
- Energy
- Water
In charge of environmental issues off campus and will work with Congressmen, lobbying groups, environmental groups, and ecology groups, throughout the DC, Virginia, and Mayland area.
Director of Events-- Mary Knoop
Develops ways to advocate environmental issues to students on campus through on-campus events, such as speakers and films which will increase awareness. Additionally, the Events Director works with other campus groups to co-host events.
Director of Communications-- Evelina Ip
In charge of public relations with student publications and external media.
Responsible for the organization's finances, reinbursements, and applies for co-sponsorships and grants.
Responsible for list serv and weekly emails, takes minutes at each meeting, works with E-Board to outline meeting agendas.
Designs and updates social communications, works with E-Board to outline meeting agendas.
