The Inaugural Parade of Teddy Roosevelt in 1905. 1987. 42" x 60".

The Inauguration of Teddy Roosevelt took place on March 4, 1905 with an impressive parade of military pomp and circumstance in which the leaders of the five Indian Nations marched including Geronimo. The scene shown is the parade making the twist around the Treasury at the confluence of Fifteenth Street, Pennsylvania Avenue and New York Avenue. The artist took many pictures matching the earlier images of the parade taken from the same vantage point - almost getting killed by the traffic at this dangerous intersection! The painting was executed as a commission for Thomas J. Owen and the Perpetual Financial Organization which abruptly went out of existence in the early 1990s.
