The scene depicted is a picnic on a hillside overlooking the Civil War town of Harper's Ferry, West Virginia. Although the landscape is an American one, it was executed (with "pangs of nostalgia") during Wright's stay in Paris. Signed and numbered by the artist in pencil. Edition of 20.
