Under Paris Skies. 1997. 32x42.

In the 1990s, Wright resumed his series of paintings on the subject of Paris skies, but concentrating on the Seine. This painting was based on photographs taken from the Pont du Carousel. It looks toward Notre-Dame but also shows life on the river: the bateaux-mouches, and the restaurants adjacent to the Pont des Arts which connects the Ecole des Beaux-Arts with the Louvre. It was inspired by the wonderful series of Canaletto paintings of London and the Thames. The sky is an aunthentic, one of those sun-rain-sun days often experienced in Paris.
