Faculty Workstations

The 2012 Faculty Workstation Initiative (FWI) marks the sixteenth year of the program at The George Washington University. Each spring, Academic Technologies coordinates the purchasing, imaging, and deploying of Dell and Apple workstations to FWI-eligible faculty members across the university.

The Faculty Workstation Initiative (FWI) is sponsored by Academic Technologies, and was mandated by the University's Board of Trustees to provide a new workstation to 1/3 of eligible faculty each year. As the program has developed, it has undergone numerous changes to ensure that the computer you receive is powerful and effective:

Academic Technologies works with the Research and Instructional Technology Committee (RITC) to have faculty representatives approve each year's configurations.
Each School's Dean authorizes their School Representative to nominate eligible faculty under the guidelines of The Office of AVP, to which FWI workstations will be deployed. Academic Technologies coordinates with each School's Local Support Partners (LSPs) to prepare recipient office spaces.
