Alumni Comments

When alumni were asked if they would recommend the program to a prospective applicant, they had this to say:

1989 graduate in the MSFS program

" Yes, good overview of all facets of forensic science (toxicology, serology, chemistry, criminalistics), good opportunities to work with federal enforcement labs, networking potential at MAAFS, working at CTS during my time at GWU helped to understand current issues in the field."

1991 graduate in the MFS program

"Yes, in an absolute minute.  This was the wisest educational decision I have ever made."

1992 graduate in the MFS program

"Yes, it's money well spent. You have access to some outstanding adjunct faculty members.  You can also learn a great deal by interactions with classmates who are also law enforcement practitioners."

1994 graduate in the MFS program

"Yes, The course work was very extensive and informative.  The program prepared me to go out and meet the challenges in the Criminal Justice systems as well as in other areas."
1995 graduate in the MFS program
"Yes, because the program provided a wide range of exposure to the field of forensic science in general.  Had I not had that I might not have been able to know which area I would be better at and more interested in."
1996 graduate in the MFS program
" I would whole heartedly recommend the MFS program to any budding forensic scientist or individual interested in criminal jurisprudence.  The hands-on, comprehensive curriculum ranging from forensic pathology, DNA /serology to terrorism and high-risk security clearly were instrumental in shaping and having my interest in forensic careers and endeavors.
1997 graduate in the MFS program

"Yes, I would recommend the program to those going into a law enforcement field.  The MFS is most beneficial for those planning on becoming a police officer or a federal law enforcement agent.  My understanding is that the MSFS is more beneficial for those planning on working in a laboratory or perhaps as crime scene technicians.  In the forensic sciences field, I think GW has about the best program in the country.   Like anything else in life, however, how much you get out of it depends a great deal upon how much effort you put into it.  Overall, I was very satisfied with the education I received."
1998 graduate of the MFS program
"Yes, the program gave me the base knowledge I needed to perform my job.  It thoroughly prepared me for employment in the forensic science field."
1999 graduate of the MFS program
"Most definitely-to anyone interested in the field of forensic science."
