Variants of Aarne-Thompson Tale Type 361

Like all folk tales, "Bearskin" has a great number of variants. The following list was compiled using the Aarne-Thompson tale type index in A Guide to Folktales. (For more information on the Aarne-Thompson classification system, see the structural analysis of the tales.) Some of the tales have a great deal in common. Others seem only loosly related. However, all of them have been deemed like enough to fall under the prestigious classification: "Tale Type 361".

Finally, while this tale is not technically a member of AT 361, I have found it has more similarities with many of the "Bearskin" varients than "Bearskin" itself.

Interestingly enough, the Grimms placed this tale immediately before "Bearskin" in their collection Kinder- und Hausmärchen.
