Full-time graduate
students are eligible for assistance, most of which is merit-based and
includes research assistantships, teaching assistantships, scholarships,
fellowships, awards, and employment opportunities. Research assistantships
make up the largest portion of aid available to students in the School of
Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS). For more information on assistantships

awards, contact the chair of the department in which you plan to study.
Computer Security and Information Assurance Scholarship
GW, as a National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education, offers full scholarships for U.S. graduate students to study computer security and information assurance. In 2007-08, 11 students are pursuing their bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees with federal funding from the National Science Foundation and the Defense Department. EMPLOYMENT AND CAREER SERVICES
The SEAS Office of Career Services offers assistance in securing full-time, part-time and summer positions.
Very often our graduate students work during the day and attend classes in the afternoon and/or evening.
Students have been placed at a variety of companies and Federal agencies including Sprint/Nextel,
Google, IBM, the U.S. Department of Transportation, the U.S. Army Research Institute, the Jarvik

FELLOWSHIPS
Department Fellow Awards - provide a full-tuition award, stipend, and
compensation for assistantship duties
- Ibrahim Aborsey Ashie Engineering Scholarship Fund - provides scholarships to students enrolled in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences
- Department Stipend Awards - provide a cash stipend
- Engineering Alumni Association (EEA) Scholarship - for graduate students in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences
- Norris and Betty Hekimian Graduate Award - supports research in any aspect of engineering at the discretion of the Dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences
- Hyundai Scholarship Fund - for master's and doctoral students who are
citizens of South Korea, or U.S. citizens with a demonstrated interest in Korea and are in computer science,
engineering management, mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering,
and Civil Engineering.

- Douglas L. Jones Endowed Mechanical Engineering Graduate Fellowship - esatblished in 2002 by Douglas L. Jones, BS 1963, MS 1965, D.Sc 1970, to provide fellowships to students majoring in mechanical engineering
- W. Stanley Machen Graduate Fellowship Fund - fellowship award to either full- or part-time graduate students majoring in civil engineering field U.S.
- Richard E. Merwin Memorial Award - for doctoral students in electrical engineering and computer science
- Raymond L. Pickholtz Graduate Scholarships - supports a graduate student in communications engineering
- S. Remey Pottinger Memorial Scholarships Fund - provides scholarships for graduate students in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences
- Lewis P. Wagman Engineering Endowment - provides scholarships for graduate students in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences

Presentation Travel Grants - grants available for those students
invited to present at a national or international conference related to
their academic area or dissertation research (separate application

- GW Presidential
Administrative Fellowships - offers recent GW baccalaureate
graduates the opportunity to gain relevant work experience within the GW
administration while pursuing a master's degree in their chosen field.
Students must apply during their senior year at GW (separate application

- Global Leadership
Program Fellowships - for international students on J-1 visas from
the People's Republic of China, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Mongolia,
Sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and

- Phi Delta Gamma
Scholarship Fund - must have completed at least nine semester hours

Endowment Graduate Fellowships - for graduate students affiliated
with the Scottish Rite except law and M.D. students (separate

Endowment Graduate Public Service Awards - for U.S. citizens who
plan a career in government or public service, intend to undertake
unpaid public service over the summer, and are enrolled as full-time
master's degree candidates in CSAS, ESIA, GSEHD, SBPM, or SEAS.
