The George Washington School of Business

The School of Business (SB) offers a wide range of financial assistance to its students. These can be divided into two categories:   Merit-based Departmental Scholarships and Fellowships, and Graduate Assistantships.


MERIT-BASED DEPARTMENTAL SCHOLARSHIPS AND FELLOWSHIPS
SB automatically considers all applicants to its main campus full-time programs, both domestic and international, for merit-based awards that range from partial to full tuition.
Candidates must file a complete admission application by February 1 in order to be considered for these awards. The selection process is highly competitive, and awards are made solely on the basis of merit and availability of funds.

In addition, both new and current students are considered for a number of merit-based scholarships and fellowships that have been provided to the School by private donors.   1. Daewoo Corporation Scholarships - for master's and doctoral students who are citizens of Vietnam.

  2. Homeland Security Graduate Fellowship -Fellowships are awarded in a wide range of disciplines including the sciences, mathematics, computer and information sciences, and the humanities. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Award will cover full tuition and provides a stipend of $2,300 per month for 12 months.

  3. Hyundai Scholarship Fund - for master's and doctoral students who are citizens of South Korea or the U.S. and are in Information Systems Management, Management of Science, Technology and Innovation, Procurement and Contracting, and International Business.

  4. J. Willard Marriott Foundation Scholarship - for more information, contact the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Managment at (202) 994-6281.
  5. Leo and Lillian Goodwin Endowment Scholarship - for MBA candidates.
  6. Marvin L. Kay Fellowship in Finance - for more information, contact the Department of Finance at (202) 994-5996.
  7. Oliver T. Carr, Jr. Scholarship - for more information, contact the School of Businness Graduate Programs office at (202) 994-1212.
  8. Poncelet Scholarships - for graduate students who are citizens of the European Union enrolled in selected programs. Separate application required. Contact the Office of Fellowships, (202) 994-6822.
  9. Rita H. Keller Scholarship Fund - for more information, contact the Department of International Business at (202) 994-6116.
  10. Washington Gas Light Company Scholarship - for MBA candidates.
  11. Wolcott Foundation Scholarships - for master's students interested in a career in local, state, or federal government or in specific private-sector international business positions. Separate application required. For more information, contact Margaret Vann at (202) 994-8252.

MERIT-BASED UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS AND FELLOWSHIPS

  1. Bryce Harlow Foundation Scholarships - for part-time students who plan a career in business/government relations. Separate application required. Contact the Office of Fellowships, (202) 994-6822.
  2. Conference Presentation Travel Grants - grants available for those students invited to present at a national or international conference related to their academic area or dissertation research Contact the Office of Fellowships, (202) 994-6822.
  3. Global Leadership Program Fellowships - for international students on J-1 visas from the People's Republic of China, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Mongolia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and U.S.S.R. successor states. Separate application required. Contact the Office of Fellowships, (202) 994-6822.
  4. GW Presidential Administrative Fellowships - offers recent GW baccalaureate graduates the opportunity to gain relevant work experience within the GW administration while pursuing a master's degree in their chosen field. Separate application required. Students must apply during their senior year at GW. Contact the Student Activity Center, (202) 994-6555.
  5. Loughran Fellowship - for SB graduate students and GW Law students from the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area (DC, MD, or Northern VA) who have need and are currently enrolled in graduate school. Separate application required. Contact the Office of Fellowships, (202) 994-6822.
  6. Phi Delta Gamma Scholarship Fund - must have completed at least nine semester hours of graduate work at GW. Not open every year. Separate application required. Contact the Office of Fellowships, (202) 994-6822.
  7. Scottish Rite Endowment Graduate Fellowships - for graduate students affiliated with the Scottish Rite except law and M.D. students. Separate application required. Contact the Office of Fellowships, (202) 994-6822.
  8. Scottish Rite Endowment Graduate Public Service Awards - for U.S. citizens who plan a career in government or public service, intend to undertake unpaid public service over the summer, and are enrolled as full-time master's degree candidates in CSAS, ESIA, GSEHD, SBPM, or SEAS. GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS
SBPM also offers graduate assistantships to qualified full-time students. Each assistantship is packaged individually and requires part-time employment in exchange for the award. Contact the academic department for your intended field of concentration for more information.
