Graduate AssistantshipsThe George Washington University has three types of graduate appointments that involve working at the GWU campus. These positions vary in regard to pay and duties. Appointments for these positions are made by departments. Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA)Paid to assist a faculty member in teaching, a graduate student in this position may be asked to perform duties such as leading a discussion, teaching a laboratory section, grading, and/or assisting a professor with updating his/her curriculum. At The George Washington University, the position of GTA is highly regarded as it is a prime opportunity for graduate students to learn to teach under the guidance of a mentor. Generally, GTAs receive packages consisting of graduate salaries, stipends and tuitions awards. Graduate Research Assistant (GRA)The prime objective of a Graduate Research Assistant is to assist a faculty member in activities related to research. Generally, GRAs receive packages consisting of graduate salaries, stipends and tuition awards. Graduate Administrative Assistant (GAA)The position of Graduate Administrative Assistant involves working for a specific department or office, performing and completing day-to-day duties determined by faculty and/or administrative staff members. Generally, GAAs receive packages consisting of graduate salaries, stipends and tuition awards. |
