PURPOSE AND ELIGIBILITY
For the 2008-2009 academic year, the District of Columbia Daughters of the American Revolution (D.C. DAR) will be awarding one fellowship of $3,000 in tuition. Applicants must be United States citizens and current GW master’s or PhD candidates, enrolled for at least six credits a semester in one of the following fields:

- MA - Museum Studies (with a focus on American Fine/Decorative Arts)
- MA - American Studies (with a focus on American history, colonial period through 1830, and/or Historic Preservation)
- MA -History (with a focus on American history, colonial period through 1830, and/or Historic Preservation)

REQUIREMENTS
The successful applicant will appear at a D.C. DAR forum during the Spring or Fall Semester to describe the intended use of the funds.

Application Form
Applicants should fill out only the top six lines in the box under “DAR Scholarship Application” and the email address in the seventh line. Disregard both the remaining boxes and the instructions that follow on the form. Statement of 1000 Words or Less
This statement must set forth the applicant’s career objectives, specifying how his/her graduate work relates to future professional goals and the reasons for those goals.
- Transcripts
The applicant must provide an original or photocopy of his/her undergraduate transcripts and an unofficial copy of his/her GW graduate transcript (not from GWeb).
- Academic Resume
The applicant should list on one page any honors/fellowships received, scholastic achievements, extracurricular activities that pertain to his/her graduate study and any other significant academic accomplishments.
- Academic References
The applicant should provide at least two and no more than four letters of support from professors. The letters may address the applicant’s scholarship, integrity, character, potential and volunteer service.
